Local resident has debut book published

Dorothy Deene, who has been living in the Santa Clarita Valley since 2014, has gotten her first novel published. Her book entitled “The Gravity of Lies” is set to be released on June 13, and will be available for pre-order in May.

She has spent years writing and directing plays and also wrote narrative stories for a weekly column at the SCV Gazette.

Deene and her daughter were a part of a CBS reality show, and Deene’s expertise comes firsthand when speaking about the entertainment industry. Through this experience on the reality show, she especially learned of the many emotions from the other teens on the show that became apparent to her through the process of filming. Deciding to pull from her and her daughter’s own experience, she began writing “The Gravity of Lies.”  The protagonist, Skye, lives  in her mother’s dysfunctional world while  trying to find her father in hopes of a better life.
